Week 4 – Immersive Distraction

Why Immersive Distraction?

If you’ve ever been frustrated by seated meditation, this week is for you! Instead of trying to sit still and calming your mind, you’re going to move your body and engage your mind so much that you get to take a breather from the things you’re anxious about.

A man in a wheelchair goes white-water rafting virtually via VR goggles.
Virtual reality can be an immersive experience that takes your mind elsewhere!

But here’s the catch. You also need to come back from whatever distraction you engaged in. We can’t just stay distracted all the time – we do need to come back and engage with real life, people we love, pets, jobs, hobbies, and the like. To that end, we’ll also practice a quick “regrounding” routine.

I’ll give you low-energy and higher-energy options to choose from. I’ll also give you a long list of other activities to choose from. Let’s explore!
