Description

This is a kit based on the “herbal tincture combination” Stephen Buhner mentions in his book Herbal Antivirals. He says “I have found this useful for stopping the development of a flu infection if you take it at the first signs of tingling or soreness in your throat. The tincture mix should be held in your mouth, liberally mixed with saliva, then swallowed, slowly, letting it dribble down the back of the throat. For Echinacea angustifolia to work for a cold or flu the herbal tincture must touch the affected membranes.

PLEASE NOTE: These are Buhner’s assertions, not mine. I am making no claims about efficacy; I’m simply providing materials for people to easily follow his protocols. Please see “Buhner Kits” for important information about this herbal blend.

Contraindications: Pregnancy, bleeding issues (e.g., DON’T take red root if you’re on blood thinners). Licorice can increase blood pressure if taken in high doses and/or for a long time. TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR if you have any ongoing health issues or medications (especially high blood pressure, low calcium levels, low testosterone levels, or high blood sodium) before taking this. Evidence is so far inconclusive about the effect of echinacea on antipsychotic medications (source). Use with caution.

Ingredients: Echinacea angustifolia, red root (Ceanothus americanus), licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra).

Preparation instructions: Suggested preparations are included for making tinctures, non-alcoholic decoctions, and teas from this kit. Download Viral Prophylaxis Kit Info Sheet. The short version, for making a tincture is:

  • Dump contents into a 16 oz jar (like a pint canning jar).
  • Fill the jar with 80 proof alcohol, like vodka.
  • Shake the jar occasionally – or better yet, after about a week, blend the contents in a blender, then return to the jar.
  • Let sit for 4-6 WEEKS.
  • Strain through a sieve into a clean jar.
  • Will keep without refrigeration for several years.

Dosage: One dropperful (30 drops; about 1 mL) every hour at the very first sign of infection. Swish in mouth and swallow slowly – you need it to touch the membranes of your mouth and throat. This kit makes about 12oz of finished tincture – enough for 12 dropperfuls per day for 24 days. However, don’t take it for more than 10 days straight – licorice should not be used long-term.

Utterly Amazing! Minimal Symptoms. I was unfortunately accidentally exposed to Covid for the first time ever in October. I had already purchased this, and it was steeping, 3 weeks by that point. I jumped in and started dosing at once. I knew I was coming down with something, but all of my symptoms were light, and none lasted more than 3 days. Sore throat, low fever, sneezing, runny nose, yes, but nothing incapacitating. I self-quarantined at home. It wasn’t until the second week that I realized I had Covid, when I had a 4 day long (mild) headache. Since I am somewhat disabled and have significant immune response issues, I was so fearful (and careful) about getting Covid. Yet I was exposed. This tincture was a miracle to get me through with minimal issues. My friend who exposed me also took this and had just 4 bad days and was back to normal in 10 days, whereas last year she got Covid and was down and out for 30 days, the entire month of November. I quickly made a new batch and just shared it with my neighbor who was positive yesterday, yesterday she was in bed all day, too spent to do anything, today she writes that: “ I feel great today, cough and headache are gone. Thank you!”
